How Sara Wolff Helped Pass the ABLE Act

Sara Wolff is a law clerk, motivational speaker, and board member of the National Down Syndrome Society. She also happens to have Down syndrome. Last year, Sara started a petition on Change.org asking Congress to pass the ABLE Act, a disability rights bill that would help millions of people with disabilities save for their futures.

Sara became a champion of the ABLE Act, testifying before the U.S. Senate and meeting with members of Congress. Over 250,000 people signed her petition and within a year, the ABLE Act was passed overwhelmingly and signed into law by President Obama.

Because of Sara’s hard work, millions of people living with disabilities are now able to create tax-free savings accounts that will help them live more independent lives.
