Jesse A. Kushner, M.Ed

Position: Founder/President


Thirty-Eight years of experience working as a Special Education teacher, assistant principal and a Director of Education for children with Intellectual, multiple disabilities, emotional disabilities, and Autism. Established Professional Education and Respite Service in April of 2005 out of the need to make a stronger connection and establish consistency between home and school.  As the business grew, Mr. Kushner saw an immediate need for in home ABA therapy thus in August of 2014 the company became New Horizons Professional ABA Services to clearly define the major service being provided to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Developmental Disabilities.


 

Nicole VanZandt

Position: Director of Operations


Nicole VanZandt comes to New Horizons Professional ABA Services with 15+ years of home healthcare and business management experience. She is the proud mother of four children, one of whom is a special needs son. Being the parent of a special needs child influenced Nicole’s decision to come on board with New Horizons Professional ABA Services. Nicole can relate to the day to day struggles of being a parent to a special needs or disabled child and uses that experience to drive her in her advocacy for the special needs population. She also is a volunteer at her local fire department, she enjoys spending time with her children and family in outdoor activities and crafting sessions with her daughters.


 

Brandy Davis

Position: Office Manager



Brandy Davis joined New Horizons Professional ABA Services in September of 2013. Brandy assists staff, handles billing and employee management. Ms. Davis came to us with 10+ yrs. office management experience. Brandy has a great laugh and giggle and her personality and competence adds to our pleasant work environment. She lives in Winchester with her two children. Brandy enjoys spending her free time outdoors and with her family.


 

Rachel

Rachel Kindall

Position: Executive Assistant


Rachel lives in Middletown Virginia with her husband. She joined New Horizons Professional ABA Services in September of 2014. She has spent the last eight year in the customer service industry. Rachel is the first friendly voice you hear when calling our office. She spends her busy day working on client management and assisting the Director of Operations and the President.


 

Stephanie Mercier Cooksey, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA

Position: Senior Behavior Analyst


Stephanie joined New Horizons Professional ABA Services in 2012.  A Massachusetts native, she received her Master’s degree in Special Education from Saint Leo University in Florida and a Master’s Certificate in Behavioral Intervention in Autism from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Massachusetts.  She was a special education teacher, working with a variety of disabilities, before pursuing a career in behavior analysis.  Stephanie received her Board Certification in 2009. She worked as a behavior analyst for several years and in 2013, she was promoted to Senior Behavior Analyst.  Stephanie is enthusiastic and dedicated to working with children with disabilities, having first-hand experience growing up with a sibling on the Autism spectrum. Stephanie has worked as a home-based behavioral therapist, overseen home-based programs, designed training protocols for ABA therapists and supervisors and has consulted with families and schools. She has experience using the VB-MAPP, ABLLS and the AFLS.  Stephanie’s interests include PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Functional Communication Training, Discrete Trial Training, and Activities of Daily Living.

Susan Canby, M.Ed.,BCBA,LBA

Position: Clinical Supervisor


Susie holds Bachelor of Art in Philosophy from Hollins College (now Hollins University,) a Juris Doctor from The University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law, a Master of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Graduate Certificate in Behavior Analysis from Pennsylvania State University.

Susie has had a variety of work experiences from which she has benefitted professionally and personally. She practiced law, specializing in services to people with disabilities and elderly people at Southside Virginia Legal Services in Petersburg, Virginia. She taught special education at Virginia Randolph Education Center, in Henrico County, Virginia. Students with whom she worked included those identified as having Autism, mild to severe cognitive disabilities, emotional disturbance, multiple disabilities and other health impairments. She taught and served as an administrator at Dominion School for Autism, an ABA based private school for students with autism in Richmond, Virginia. She also worked at Dominion as a behavior analyst, clinical supervisor and insurance coordinator. She holds a Post Graduate Professional Teaching and Educator License by the Virginia Board of Education and has had the pleasure of working for New Horizons Professional ABA Services since October 2012. In that time she has had to privilege of working with skilled therapists, welcoming families and amazing children.


 

Sarah Rzepka, M.E.d., BCBA, LBA

Position: Clinical Supervisor


Sarah was certified as a BCBA in February, 2014, after receiving her  BCBA supervision from Stephanie Cooksey, the company’s Senior BCBA. Sarah has seven years experience teaching children with special needs in the public school system, and hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education and an Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate from George Mason University. “It is a great joy for me to participate in the lives of the families I work with. I love witnessing positive progress, problem behavior reduction, and the acquisition of language and functional skills for our clients. I am passionate about teaching every child individually, and supporting them to reach their greatest potential. In my spare time, I enjoy time with family and friends, running, cooking, and hanging out with my awesome husband.”


 

Janet Rogers, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA

Position: Clinical Supervisor


Janet Rogers has been with New Horizons Professional ABA Services Inc. since 2012.  She earned her BS in Special Education and her MEd in Early Childhood Special Education from James Madison University.  Janet taught special education in the public schools for 12 years:  as a resource teacher, a preschool teacher and a self-contained autism teacher.  Her experience as a teacher includes teaching in Kansas City, Missouri; Fairfax County, Virginia; and Loudoun County, Virginia.  She earned her certificate in Autism from George Mason in 2011, and her certificate in Behavior analysis from the University of Cincinnati in 2014.  Janet lives in Leesburg, Virginia with a patient husband, 2 beautiful girls, and a very spoiled dog. Janet became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst on November 18, 2014.


 

Brooke Fay, M.Ed., BCBA

Position: Board Certified Behavior Analyst



Brooke joins New Horizons Professional ABA Services with over 7 years experience in the field of special education. She received her BS and M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Maryland. She has worked as a special education teacher in both Maryland and Oklahoma. The majority of her experience has been with high school students, but she enjoys working with children of any age. Brooke holds an Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate from the Florida Institute of Technology, and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in February 2015. She is dedicated to working with her clients and their families to help them achieve their goals, and feels very fortunate to be working in a field that can facilitate life-changing results.


 

Sara Carrasco, BS, RBT

Position: Registered Behavior Technician


Sara has been working with children with special needs since 2011. “I have been a proud member of the New Horizons Professional ABA staff for over a year and enjoy every minute of my work.” She graduated from James Madison University in 2012 with a Bachelors in Psychology and has received her RBT certificate from the BACB. “I pride myself on being the most energetic and adaptable therapist I can be in order to provide a personal and effective experience for each child I work with!” “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn. -Ignacio Estrada””


 

Tina Dittmer, BS, RBT

Position: Registered Behavior Technician


Tina has lived in Northern Virginia since 2001. She is a career switcher having spent over 15 years working in the field of operations and organizational development for large corporations. When her son was born in 2006, she wanted a change. Tina went back to school and earned my Master’s Degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. She began her journey toward a BCBA certificate in 2013, when she joined New Horizons Professional ABA Services Inc. She has since utilized her experience with her Autistic/ADHD son to help other families. “I enjoy working with the wonderful families I have met, and hope to provide the best services possible for all the children in my care.”


 

Kelly Weist

Position: Social Media Specialist



Kelly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a mother of three boys, one of whom has autism. Kelly manages the social media sites for New Horizons Professional ABA Services and writes a blog for the website about her experiences as a mom. She has worked as a digital media manager in both the corporate world and the entertainment industry. She also worked for Loudoun County Public Schools as a teaching assistant in a special needs classroom. She is a passionate advocate for autism awareness and she and her family live in Purcellville, Virginia.
